James H. McNally was a Chicago, Illinois, resident and son of James McNally, vice president of Rand, McNally & Company. He served with the 1st Illinois Field Artillery at San Antonio and Leon Springs, Texas, and with the Canadian Artillery in France and Belgium during World War I. The collection consists of photographs of camps and scenes near San Antonio and Leon Springs, Texas, with the 1st Illinois Field Artillery. Also includes photographs of views in France and Belgium with the Canadian Artillery; postcards of France, Germany, and Belgium; newspaper clippings; and discharge and repatriation papers and Canadian Army memorabilia.
